Reducing reoffending
At HMP Lowdham Grange, as a Category B training prison, we care for a complex population, including those serving life and indeterminate sentences, recalls and foreign nationals, as well as a small cohort of prisoners approaching release.
Sodexo’s Reducing Reoffending Strategy at Lowdham Grange will create a restorative environment offering prisoners the holistic interventions and support for their rehabilitation. Our psychologically and trauma-informed approach includes providing a focus on mental health and wellbeing into the regime, alongside a reimagined family offer which maximises family contact and supports the (re)building of personal relationships.
The Stages of Change methodology is at the heart of our reducing reoffending activity at Lowdham Grange – drawing on extensive evidence of what works to engage prisoners in evaluating their behaviour, motivating change, and focusing on personal progression.
Reducing Re-offending:
Our approach to reducing re-offending includes:
- A Sodexo-employed Psychologist resource, contributing to sentence, care and progression plans.
- An ‘Open Door Centre’ to refocus the regime on positive mental health and safety.
- A Psychological Support Unit (PSU) offering psychologically-informed care to prisoners with complex needs.
- Innovative Support in our IPP Strategy – Addressing the complex needs of these prisoners with dedicated psychological support.
